OUR SNUFF SPECIALITIES

Snuff has now been enjoyed by a wide variety of people for over five centuries: they include, among others, Katharina von Medici, Friedrich von Schiller, Napoleon or former Chancellor Helmut Schmidt, to name just a few celebrities. Together with around 1 million other consumers in Germany, they appreciate the special characteristics of the pinch of enjoyment. Snuff is smokeless tobacco enjoyment which does not disturb anyone, is environmentally friendly and can be consumed in all places - whether at work, in stations and airports, in the cinema or smoke-free restaurants. However, snuff also provides ideal alternative enjoyment to smokers. Small pinches bring the most enjoyment if they are only gently sniffed. After a few seconds, the sparkling feeling of freshness develops. Whether from the back of the hand or the finger tips, it does not matter. What matters is the enjoyment afterwards.

Everything started in 1902 with the production of the classic Schmalzler. To date, the traditional product is produced on the premises of Pöschl.

The name "snuff powder" indicates that this product is not snuff within the meaning of Tobacco Tax Law or the Tobacco Regulations, even though it is consumed in the same way. Consumers often call this snuff powder white snuff - this literal sense is wrong. The basis for snuff powder is pulverised sugars, e.g. dextrose (grape-sugar) and starch flours which – similar to snuff – are moistened with essential oils of various flavours and paraffin.

FINE-CUT (CIGARETTE TOBACCO)- PLEASURE FOR SELF-MADE PEOPLE

Whether rolled by hand or produced yourself with filling equipment and cigarette filter tubes - the enjoyment of a home-made cigarette is unique. This is mainly due to the special procedure and individuality of the production. The consequence of these is that each rolled or filled cigarette looks a bit different and mostly tastes different as well. An additional factor is that loose cigarette tobacco is significantly cheaper compared to finished cigarettes from the factory.

In the field of smoking tobacco, Pöschl Tabak created a second string to its bow in the year 2008 with the development of its own cigarette production. Here, the company produces additive-free factory cigarettes of the "PUEBLO" brand.

PIPE TOBACCO ENJOYMENT IN STYLE

Pipe-smoking is a culture in itself, for many contemporaries even a way of life. This is particularly evident in the relationship between pipe lovers and pleasure and time. After all, the procedure of pipe-smoking brings numerous enjoyment experiences. From buying a new pipe which corresponds to one's own ideas regarding style and flavour, through the selection of a new type of tobacco, to the careful tamping and subsequent smoking of the pipe. It is also these features which make the pipe smoker stand out from the crowd compared to cigarette smokers. Therefore it is not surprising that there are numerous prominent personalities among the nearly 800,000 pipe smokers in Germany. Some of them were even allowed to call themselves "Pipe Smoker of the Year". This title is awarded by the Tobacco Forum, which Pöschl Tobacco also has belonged to for every year since 1969. The list includes, among others, the names of Norbert Blüm, Peter Struck, Franz Xaver Kroetz, Günter Grass, Tobias Moretti, Herbert Wehner, Helmut Kohl, Loriot, Thomas Gottschalk, President of the Bundestag Prof. Dr. Norbert Lammert and also the well-known TV cook Horst Lichter or the director Prof. Volker Weicker. The most recent prize-winner – and first woman ever to be awarded-in 2018 was the actress Sonja Kirchberger. In 2020 the award went to Dr. h.c. Albert H. Weiler, member of the German Bundestag.
